Global pop star Dua Lipa surprised her audience at a Mumbai concert by performing a mashup of Bollywood King Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic song “Woh Ladki” and her hit track “Levitating.” While the performance thrilled fans, singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, the original voice behind the Bollywood song expressed frustration over being sidelined.
Following the viral videos of Dua Lipa’s concert, Shah Rukh Khan’s fans couldn’t contain their excitement with SRK’s name trending everywhere.
Speaking to Indian media, Abhijeet voiced his disappointment stating that no one acknowledged his contribution to the iconic song featured in the viral clip. He argued that Dua Lipa should have credited the original team behind “Woh Ladki” during her performance. Instead, all the attention was focused on Shah Rukh Khan.
Abhijeet said,
“I don’t care who Dua Lipa is. The song was famous even before her performance. It’s disheartening that the creators behind the original track are ignored.”
He added,
“Frankly, it doesn’t matter to me if Dua Lipa mentions my name or not. But after her performance, my phone was flooded with calls, with people saying this credit was yours.”
He concluded,
“I’ve told everyone that the real contributors to the song’s success are well-known, and that’s enough for me.”
The lyrics for “Woh Ladki Jo Sabse Alag Hai” were penned by renowned Bollywood lyricist Sameer. Abhijeet provided the vocals with Anu Malik composing the music. The song was featured in the film Badshah starring Shah Rukh Khan, Twinkle Khanna and an ensemble cast including Johny Lever, Amrish Puri, Rakhee Gulzar and others.
Dua Lipa’s performance of the trending mashup “Levitating” and “Woh Ladki” continues to be the talk of the town.
