A BBC Breakfast favourite was left red-faced after a live TV gaffe this morning.
Weatherman Matt Taylor stepped in for Carol Kirkwood on the popular morning show, hosted by and . The programme covered various headlines, including the issue of frozen overseas pensions and Kevin Sinfield's epic 230-mile run for Motor Neurone Disease awareness and fundraising.
In the studio, Matt was eager to inform viewers about the impending cold snap, cautioning that temperatures would plummet overnight - but then he hit a technical snag.
As they chatted about the frosty conditions, Matt attempted to display his weather charts on screen, only to be thwarted by technical difficulties. He assured them: "We're flip-flopping from one extreme to another at the moment but another cold one this morning, a temperature drop through the night," before trying the button once more - to no avail.
"Very good morning to you. Frost this morning, mainly across parts of and Northern Ireland, the far north of England though," he continued, attempting to give the weather rundown, reports .
"Some of the coldest spots are indeed in Scotland and Northern Ireland right now, we've got temperatures down to minus five degrees," he went on. But then he had to stop because of the glitch.
Confronting the hiccup, he remarked: "Let's see if we can get these charts to work, it doesn't really want to work."
Sally pointed out the technical mishap, remarking: "I think you would have gotten away with that if we hadn't just mentioned it," which led Jon to jest: "I think it's so cold your computer graphics have frozen. Get the de-icer out!"
Wrapping up the segment, Matt previewed the weather for the following morning, explaining: "Tomorrow morning, it will be a cold start. I'll have full details on all of that and hopefully get the graphics to work in about half an hour."
Earlier, Matt had taken to to announce his appearance on the show, filling in for Carol. He excitedly informed his Twitter followers about his day ahead with Jon and Sally, tweeting: "Good morning! Great to be back with the @BBCBreakfast family in Salford today. All the weather details you need to plan your day in the way from 6am."
