What Happened Moments Before BEST Bus Rammed Into Pedestrians, Vehicles In Kurla | Watch

Seven people lost their lives, while several others sustained injuries after a speeding BEST bus struck pedestrians and collided with multiple vehicles near Mumbai’s Kurla West on Monday evening. During the preliminary investigation into the case, it was revealed that the driver did not receive proper training and pressed the accelerator when he had to apply brakes.

News18 has accessed the CCTV visuals of moments before the accident took place. According to the footage, the incident occurred somewhere around 9:36 pm on December 9. The video shows the panic in the bus caused by to sudden increase in the speed of the bus.
The passengers can also be seen pressing the emergency button, while several of them were seen jumping from the bus windows in an attempt to save their lives.

Mumbai Kurla BEST Bus Accident: What Happened?

On Monday, a bus struck pedestrians and collided with multiple vehicles after its driver lost control of the wheels. The incident occurred when the driver of the BEST bus, on route 332, lost control of the vehicle and rammed into at least 30-40 vehicles near the congested Kurla railway station before crashing into the wall of a residential society, according to the police.


 

The driver was subsequently taken into custody by police following the accident. During questioning, the driver reportedly informed the police that he previously drove a minibus with manual controls and took the job with BEST earlier this month.
The accused driver was reportedly on a contract and had joined the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) on December 1.
