Mohanlal’s directorial debut Barroz is set to hit screens on December 25, Christmas day. The 3D fantasy film also has him playing the titular role of a 400-year-old spirit.
Speaking about the journey of making the film, Mohanlal shared, “When Barroz releases this Christmas, it will mark the completion of 1,558 days of work, starting from the second schedule on 23rd of December, 2021, through to shooting and post-production. It has definitely not been an easy journey, but we are proud to present a global 3D film like Barroz to Indian cinema, catering to all age groups.”
Mohanlal added that Barroz is the result of his urge to give it back to the film industry. “Indian cinema has always entertained us, and I felt a deep urge to give something back to an industry that has given me so much. This led to the epiphany of creating the 3D world of Barroz. With challenges ranging from collaborating with global artists and musicians, navigating the pandemic, to shooting the entire film in 3D, we are extremely pleased with the final result. I’m confident that the audience will love watching the film.”
Barrozaccording to the makers, is a “timeless tale where the past and present intertwine, and the magic of friendship and loyalty holds the key to breaking ancient curses.” The film produced by Aashirvad Cinemas is slated for release in multiple languages. In Hindi, it will release on December 27, with Pen Studios handling the distribution in North India.
