According to ANI, Mayawati, the leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party, on Saturday called for a countrywide protest on December 24 in response to Union Minister Amit Shah’s comments about Babasaheb Ambedkar.
In a series of postings on X, Mayawati claimed that Shah’s comments had wounded people’s feelings.
“The author of the original book, the superhumanistic and welfare constitution for the self-respect and human rights of the Dalits, the underprivileged, and other neglected people of the country, Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, is as revered as God.” People’s emotions are bruised by Amit Shah’s rudeness,” she stated.
She also insisted that the home minister retract his remarks.
“His remarks in the Parliament against such a great individual have caused agitation and anger among people from all walks of life in the nation. He has not yet complied with the Ambedkarite BSP’s demand that he retract his remarks and repent,” Mayawati said.
“The BSP has discussed raising voices nationwide in such a scenario if the demand is not satisfied. For this reason, the party has now made the decision to support this demand by holding a countrywide movement on December 24. All of the nation’s district headquarters will have a fully nonviolent dharna protest on that day,” she said.
“Babasaheb Ambedkar dedicated his life to securing the rights of the Dalits and Bahujans, including reservation, and enabling them to live independently and with dignity,” the BSP president said, citing ANI. She said her party is loyal to him.
Therefore, Congress, the BJP, and others should not treat Baba Saheb disrespectfully if they are unable to do so from the bottom of their hearts. “The day Baba Saheb gave the SC, ST, and OBC classes legal rights under the Constitution, they also received seven lifetimes in heaven,” she said.
“If they (the opposition) had taken the name of God so many times instead of Ambedkar, they would have got heaven for seven lives,” Amit Shah allegedly said in the Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
