According to news agency PTI, Mohan Bhagwat, the head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, said that the educational system should support learning rather than impede it and that it is crucial to stay grounded in “our basic foundational values” while adjusting to the times.

Speaking at the opening of LokSeva E School in Baner on Friday, the RSS leader emphasized that education is a “vrat” (promise) to produce good people rather than a business.

“Learning should be facilitated by the educational system rather than impeded by it. Instead of acting just as a regulator, it must be a tool to empower students. “Instead of imposing strict ‘dos and don’ts’ that can inhibit students’ creativity, the role of regulation in education should concentrate on simplifying procedures and guaranteeing seamless operation,” he said, according to PTI.

The RSS chairman praised the National Education Policy (NEP), stating that while it was only recently implemented, talks to create a system of this kind had been going on for years. He also said that a number of schools had long been teaching “value-based” education.

He said that the nation will achieve its stated goal if the new educational system was fully implemented.

“While we must adapt to the changes, we must make sure that we remain anchored in our core principles. We must take the initiative and look to the future while adhering to those timeless core principles. We must contrast the old with the new, and everyone must help achieve this,” he said, according to PTI.

Bhagwat went on to say that education must be comprehensive and backed by the whole community, not only inside a framework.

Given the country’s capacity, the RSS head said that there is no question that India would become a great leader in the ultra-modern world by upholding fundamental principles.
