He also used to enjoy a lot with everyone and drink alcohol. Dharmendra used to reach the sets eating onions to hide the smell of alcohol. During the shooting, Asha Parekh complained to Dharmendra that the foul smell of onion came from his mouth. After this Dharmendra had to tell the truth to Asha Parekh.
After that Asha Parekh had explained to Dharmendra that from now on he would never drink alcohol. Dharmendra accepted this statement of Asha Parekh and also stopped drinking alcohol. But once the shooting of the film was going on and Dharmendra had to shoot a scene by drowning in water. It was very cold at that time. Dharmendra was shivering with cold after the shooting.
When the scene was shot, Dharmendra was offered alcohol, but Dharmendra had not touched alcohol since then, because he remembered Asha Parekh's warning, which she had said that if Dharmendra drank alcohol, he would die. She will never come to the set. Due to this fear, Dharmendra did not drink alcohol.
