Gabriel Jesus ended his 11-month wait for a Premier League goal and told boss : I'm ready for more.

After bagging a hat-trick in the Carabao Cup to down in midweek, the Arsenal No.9 on Saturday in a 5-1 thrashing. Jesus scored his first top-flight goal since January with just six minutes on the clock and added another before half-time.

The former man's double means he's scored five goals in two games - having taken 45 appearances to score his previous five goals. But with a smile on his face he said post-game: "I am very happy with the goals as a number nine, I know the pressure is always on to score. I am happy but the win, the three points, was massive today."

“I’m the type of guy that wants to work hard. I know my qualities. I know I can score. In my mind I know I can score, I just have to put myself in a good position to finish the action like today. I put two in the net and missed one that I will be dreaming of."

Kai Havertz has led Arsenal's attack for much of the current campaign, the German being Arteta's preferred focal point. But Jesus is a title winner, is capable of playing anywhere across the front and gives Arsenal something a little bit different at the top end of the pitch.

It's taken him a while to recover from a number of injuries, but now he is hoping for more opportunities as they hunt down in the title race.

"When I play with a smile on my face everything is different, so I am trying to keep my mind strong and just help the team," he added. "I understand I have to be more in the box to finish the action.

"It is great to be back in the team playing more. I am experienced enough and know when a player is playing constantly it is different. I am happy to get more chances but it is up to me to put myself in the right places to score.

"It is Arsenal, it is a huge club and I know the pressure for the number nine to score is there."
