Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is allegedly not interested in signing Manchester United attacker Alejandro Garnacho next summer.

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is reportedly not interested in signing Manchester United attacker Alejandro Garnacho during next summer’s transfer window.

Garnacho has been one of Man United’s most productive players this season, scoring eight goals and registering four assists in 25 appearances in all competitions.

However, the Argentina international was left out of the squad for the Manchester derby last weekend, with Man United head coach Reuben Amorim claiming that the forward had not been performing to the required level during training sessions in the build-up to the clash.

Garnacho was recalled for the EFL Cup contest with Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night, appearing as a second-half substitute in what proved to be a 4-3 loss for the Red Devils.

However, there is currently speculation surrounding his future, with his suitability for Amorim’s 3-4-3 system being called into question.

Garnacho’s best work primarily comes from a wide attacking role, but he has thus far been asked to feature as one of the narrow number 10s in the new set-up at Old Trafford.

Barcelona boss Flick ‘not interested’ in Garnacho

Barcelona have recently been credited with an interest in Garnacho, with a number of Europe’s biggest clubs believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation at Old Trafford.

However, according to The NationalBarcelona boss Flick does not believe that the Argentine would be a suitable signing for the Catalan giants.

The report claims that Garnacho’s agent has been in touch with the La Liga outfit to discuss a move, but Flick does not believe that the youngster has the necessary quality to be a key player for the club, while he also has concerns over the player’s work-rate.

As a result, it appears that Barcelona are not in the running for the attacker, with the Catalan team having other priorities in the transfer market.

Should Man United consider selling Garnacho?

The fact that Garnacho was back in the squad against Tottenham last time out suggests that Amorim was pleased with his reaction to being snubbed for the Manchester derby.

While Garnacho returned, Marcus Rashford was again left out, and it looks almost certain that the England international will be leaving Old Trafford in the near future.

As a result, it is incredibly difficult to imagine the Red Devils also sanctioning Garnacho’s departure considering that he is one of their most influential attacking players.

Garnacho must be given time to get used to a new system at Man United, and he has shown enough during his short career to suggest that he can be a vital player for the 20-time English champions moving forward.

The Argentine is again expected to be in the squad for Sunday’s Premier League clash with Bournemouth, but it remains to be seen whether he earns a recall to the starting side.
