Chandigarh: One person has been evacuated who was afraid to be trapped under the debris formed after a four-storey building collapse in Mohali's village, about 10 kms away from Chandigarh in Punjab. The affected building belonged to a gym whose entire parking lot caved in due to basement digging on neighboring plots. A rescue operation is underway to help more people who might be trapped under the debris. The incident took place in Suhana village of Mohali. The police and administrative officials have reached the spot, and rescue and relief operations are underway.

Mohali Building Collapse Reason The officials affirmed that the collapse took place due to adjacent construction activities, according to the preliminary reports. HS Bhullar DIG Ropar Range confirmed the rescue of one person from the debris collected after the building fall. He also spoke about the possible reason of the building fall. He said, "In Mohali, Sohana a four story building has collapsed, the building was of a gym, several individuals potentially trapped under the debris. 1 has been evacuated. Police and administrative teams have swiftly arrived at the scene, with rescue and relief efforts currently underway." "Preliminary reports suggest that on Saturday evening, excavation work was being conducted in the basement of an adjacent building in Sohana, Mohali. The excavation reportedly destabilized the foundation of the three-story structure, leading to its sudden collapse," he added.
