Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday said his government has constituted a sub-committee to review the reservation policy, but it will follow the court's directions in the matter. Abdullah said in a post on social media platform 'X', 'I understand the sentiments related to the reservation issue.
The Chief Minister said that JKNC, in its manifesto released before the assembly elections, had committed to investigate all its aspects. Under this commitment, a cabinet sub-committee has been formed to fulfill this promise. That sub-committee has been notified recently and is in the process of starting its work in collaboration with all stakeholders.
He said that meanwhile the reservation policy has also been challenged in Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh High Court. He said that when the final legal options are exhausted, we will definitely be bound to accept any decision. The Chief Minister said that peaceful protest is the democratic right of the people and he will not oppose it.
In fact, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference MP Agha Ruhullah has announced that he will join the protest against the reservation policy in front of the Chief Minister's residential office in Gupkar on Monday regarding the reservation issue.
