A shooting event at 330 Cole Avenue in Williamstown, Massachusetts, on Sunday morning led to a lockdown at Williams College and a search for an armed individual.Officials indicated that the shooting took place at 10:15 a.m. and seemed to be a deliberate assault. At 12:39 p.m., a reverse 911 call from the Williamstown Police notified residents about the incident and the investigation still in progress. Authorities guaranteed the community that there was no wider danger.The reverse 911 notification indicated, “Currently, given the observed evidence, this seems to be a particular, targeted event. The general population is not at risk at this moment. “This [call] is intended solely for public awareness.” Williams College informed its community about the lockdown at 11:52 a.m. through email. The communication instructed students and staff to remain indoors and refuse entry to anyone without appropriate identification. Individuals off-campus were advised to stay away from college property.The email, endorsed by the college’s director of campus safety and emergency management, characterized the suspects as dangerous and armed. “The email mentioned that law enforcement is looking into the occurrence.” Updates were assured via the college’s website and official social media platforms. The lockdown prompted heightened security protocols on campus. The Campus Security Service of the college worked closely with the Williamstown Police Department.
