Many states will participate in the parade on the duty path on the occasion of Republic Day of 2025. This time even if Delhi's tableau is not a part of it. Along with Bihar, tableaux of many states including Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal have been included.
Tables from 15 states and union territories have been selected for the Republic Day parade, including West Bengal, Punjab and Karnataka. But Delhi's tableau has been rejected again. This also gave rise to a new controversy. The expert committee constituted by the Defense Ministry did not approve Delhi's tableau because, according to them, the guidelines laid down for selection were not followed.
The Delhi government has expressed deep displeasure over this decision and is considering it as an important political issue in the context of the upcoming assembly elections. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) termed this decision as biased and alleged that Delhi's tableau has been deliberately rejected. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and other leaders of his party have lodged a strong protest on this issue.
This is not the first time that Delhi's tableau has been rejected. Last year, the tableaux of Delhi, Punjab, West Bengal and Karnataka were also not included in the Republic Day parade, leading to protests in these states. These states had made many allegations calling this decision a political conspiracy.
The expert committee of the Defense Ministry says that to maintain transparency in the selection process, all the states have been tested on the same standards. However, opposition parties and affected states say that this decision may have been taken from an electoral perspective, and the tableaus of some states have been rejected due to political reasons. At present, it is believed that the political atmosphere may heat up regarding this decision, especially when Delhi Assembly elections are near.
