Akshay Kumar is currently one of Indias biggest superstars. But at that time when actor was roped in for Dil Toh Pagal Hai his films were underperforming at the box office. The actor got the chance to work with Yash Chopra and played the character of Pooja’s (Madhuri Dixit) childhood best friend who was in love with her in the film. Although it was a small role the actor didnt get a single penny for his part.
Akshay Kumar decided to never work with YRF films again
According to reports Yash Chopra wanted to cast Jackie Shroff but later signed Akshay Kumar as he wanted a more youthful look for his character. After the release the Housefull actor when approached the makers for payment Yash Chopra allegedly said to feel grateful that he was part of the film. If reports were to be believed Akshay got annoyed and decided never to work with Yash Raj Films again.
It was after 11 years Akshay Kumar signed a film under YRF banner called Tashan (2008). Helmed by Vijay Krishna Acharya the action romantic drama also starred Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan in pivotal roles. There were reports that Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra requested Akshay to cut his hair short for the role. However the actor denied it as he was working in his Khiladi series like Sabse Bada Khiladi Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi and Mr and Mrs Khiladi. So he refused to changed the hairstyle for the his character in Tashan.
Meanwhile Akshay Kumar was last seen in a supporting role in Rohit Shettys Singham Again.
