Jaipur Tanker Blast: The fire continued for 8 hours, and the blast was heard 10 km away, did the extortion by the policemen lead to such a big accident?

A terrible accident happened in Jaipur on Friday morning. Here an LPG gas tanker was hit by a speeding truck at a U-turn. After this, gas leaked. The gas spread in the entire area. Suddenly there was a loud explosion and the entire area was engulfed in a fierce fire. 12 people have been burnt alive in the accident. Now the reason for this has also come to light.

Jagran Correspondent, Jaipur. Two main reasons are emerging behind the horrific accident that took place in Bhankrota on the Jaipur-Ajmer National Highway on Friday morning. One of these is the slow pace of work of the National Highway Authority (NHAI) and the other is believed to be illegal extortion by the policemen at that U-turn.

It is being said that NHAI opened the ring road for toll collection without completing the necessary work. This is the reason for the accident. Even after such a big accident, the responsible people did not learn any lesson, on Saturday the drivers were also seen turning from the same U-turn near the accident spot.

What did NHAI say?

NHAI Project Director Ajay Arya says that the purpose of opening the cut is to divert heavy vehicles coming from Ajmer to Jaipur to the ring road. The traffic was diverted by opening the cut with the consent of the authorities and the police.

The NHAI in its preliminary report has given suggestions to prevent such incidents, including the introduction of a SCART system for vehicles carrying inflammable material on the road and the deployment of traffic policemen at the spot 24 hours a day.

So the accident happened due to police extortion!

NHAI has built 10 flyovers from the spot to Ajmer, but three flyovers have not been operational yet. Due to this, there is always a jam on the Jaipur-Ajmer national highway. Investigation revealed that the cut where the tanker was taking a U-turn was closed some time ago for work on both sides of the highway, but due to the ring road being far away, the cut was opened again.

The reason behind this has come to light that the traffic police extort money. While taking a U-turn, the speed of the vehicles slows down and the traffic policemen stop the vehicles there and extort money from them by showing fear for various reasons.

CM gave instructions for a special campaign

Chief Minister Bhajan Lal has directed the Public Works Department to run a special campaign to fix the black spots. The work of repairing black spots is being done in the state at a cost of about Rs 2350 crore. On the other hand, NHAI has identified 40 black spots and is engaged in repairing them for Rs 812.74 crore. NHAI and the Public Works Department are working to repair a total of 176 black spots in the state.

LPG gas caused havoc

On Friday morning, a truck hit an LPG gas tanker in Jaipur. After this, about 18 tons of gas leaked. Shortly after, a huge fire broke out in the entire area with a loud explosion. So far 14 people have lost their lives in the accident. More than 30 people have suffered burn injuries. According to the information, the fire continued for about eight hours.
