Following a decline in his health, former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli was brought to the hospital. While all the required tests are being performed, he has remained under monitoring by the doctors. He was reportedly brought to the hospital late on Saturday night and is now stable. He is being monitored by specialists, however, and his condition is still severe. It was not the first time that fans and former Indian cricket players were worried about his health.
Controversies have plagued Vinod Kambli’s career. He has sometimes made headlines for his abuse of his wife and other times for his alcoholism. Everyone was taken aback by his condition when he recently showed up at an event in Mumbai. The Indian celebrity’s addiction prevented him from speaking clearly. In an interview with the Mumbai newspaper “Mid-day” a few years ago, Kambli begged for a job. “As a former cricket player, I am entirely reliant on the BCCI pension. Right now, the Board is my sole source of income, and I am really appreciative of that. It provides for my family,” Kambli had reported to Mid-Day.
Although he played his last test at the age of 23, he holds the greatest lifetime batting average of any Indian test cricket player, at 54[5][6]. He was only given consideration for One Day International matches after that, however he made his last appearance in that format at the early age of 28.
