In the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, captain Rohit Sharma is having trouble figuring out how to get runs. According to former India coach Ravi Shastri, the stylish batsman should approach the match with a clear head, alter his strategy, and attack the bowlers.

In order to be with his family after the birth of his second kid, Rohit skipped the first Test match in Australia. Although it was anticipated that he would return to the opening position, Rohit was demoted to No. 6 after KL Rahul’s outstanding 77 in India’s victory in Perth forced a change in the batting order.

Rahul took advantage of the situation by scoring a brilliant 84 in the first innings of the third Test in Brisbane, but Rohit has not benefited from the shift as he has only managed 10, 3, and 6 runs in the previous three innings.

Shastri expressed his opinion on ICC Review, saying, “I would like to see Rohit Sharma change his tactics a bit because he can still be extremely dangerous at that number [six].”
Shastri said Rohit need to avoid adopting a defensive attitude.

The former cricket player turned analyst went on to say, “I think he’s got to be very clear in his mindset to go out there and take the attack to the opposition and not worry about anything else.” In 2013, Rohit made his Test debut at number six and scored a century to commemorate the event.
