IMDb has curated a list of the top ten Christmas films for your viewing pleasure and the number one spot may surprise you.
Clinching the win is the 1946 film It's A Wonderful Life, which is loosely based on the 1843 Charles Dickens novella A Christmas Carol. The movie has received plenty of accolades over the years including being recognised by the American Film Institute as one of the 100 best American films ever made.
Just missing out on the top spot is Home Alone, which released in 1990 and starred Macaulay Culkin as the mischievous yet clever Kevin McCallister.

It followed the 10-year-old as he's accidentally left home by his family during the holidays and must try to outsmart two robbers from breaking into his house. The success of the first film spawned a sequel called Home Alone: Lost in New York which released two years later and featured a certain Donald Trump in a cameo appearance.
The bronze position has been awarded to a film that has been at the centre of many debates over whether it even constitutes as a Christmas film or not - that's right, it's Die Hard.
The action flick, starring Bruce Willis has had netizens in a tizzy for years, with some in favour of it being a Christmas film because of the festive setting, while others believing the nature of the film means it can't possibly be a Christmas movie. The 1988 film went on to become a successful franchise, with four sequels releasing in the following 25 years.
Tim Burton's classic Edward Scissorhands, which released in 1990, is in fourth position, with Johnny Depp taking on the titular character.
It tells the story of an unfinished artificial humanoid who has scissor blades instead of hands. After being taken in by a suburban family and falling in love with their teenage daughter, Edward must navigate the differences between himself and the world he's in.
Rounding out the top five is Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman starrer, Eyes Wide Shut which came out back in 1999. Set against a Christmas backdrop, a doctor who is on the verge of a midlife crisis is propelled into a surreal spiral of unexplainable events.
The Nightmare Before Christmas, Black Christmas, Elf, Batman Returns and How the Grinch Stole Christmas make up the latter half of the top ten.
