On December 20, the first flight of Air India Express from Surat to Bangkok created a new record. The high demand for alcohol among the 175 passengers on board the flight allowed the airline to record its highest ever onboard alcohol sales. However, during this time the crew had to exercise caution due to fear of unruly behavior of some passengers coming from the prohibition state of Gujarat. According to a Times of India report, despite the increasing demand, the crew kept strict control on the sale of liquor.
The menu of Air India Express includes liquors like Red Label, Bacardi White Rum, Beefeater Gin and Bira Lager Beer. Of these, the price of 50 ml Miniature Red Label and Bacardi White Rum is Rs 400, while the price of 50 ml Chivas Regal has been kept at Rs 600. The highest demand in this flight was seen for Chivas Regal and Bira Beer.
As per the airline's policy, each passenger is allowed to sell only a maximum of two miniatures or cans of liquor. If passengers behave sober after two drinks, the crew may consider providing additional alcohol. In this flight also, this policy was strictly followed despite the increasing demand from passengers.
According to sources, the onboard liquor prices of Air India Express are much cheaper than other budget airlines. Apart from this, the airline also provides hot food, which attracts passengers. On board the flight, passengers enjoyed their drinks with Chivas, Veg Biryani, Non-Veg Noodles, and Gujarati snacks like Thepla and Khakra.
Many videos of this flight also went viral on social media, in which passengers were seen enjoying drinks and snacks. A passenger said, “This service of Air India Express made the flying experience memorable.” It is noteworthy that Air India Express took care of attractive menu and service to make its first Surat-Bangkok flight special. The large number of passengers in this flight and their demand gave new experiences and lessons to the airline.
