Naxalites attacked a security forces camp in the Naxal-affected Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, in which two commandos of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were injured. Police officials said that Naxalites opened fire on the camp of newly established security forces in the forest near Gomguda village of the district.
Officials said that two commandos of the force's Special Unit (Cobra) battalion number 206 were injured in the firing with Naxalites. He told that after the firing by Naxalites, the security forces also retaliated. The injured commando is being treated.
Officials said that Gomguda village is one of the Dhur Naxal affected areas, where security forces have recently established a camp. It belongs to the 241st battalion of the paramilitary force and comes under Chintalnar police station area. Camps of security forces are being set up in the interior areas to drive back the Naxalites from the Naxal affected areas of the state. Naxalites often open fire on these camps. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has announced that the Naxalite threat will be eliminated from the country by March 2026.
Security forces had achieved great success in the anti-Naxal operation on Sunday. Naxalites' top commander Prabhakar Rao was surrounded and arrested by security forces. Prabhakar Rao was wanted in many states. There was a reward of Rs 25 lakh on this. Officials said that rapid action is being taken in the anti-Naxal campaign in 7 districts of Bastar division. A total of 884 Maoists have been arrested so far this year in seven districts of the division.
