This song was sung very beautifully by Mohammad Rafi. According to reports, by the time of the 70s, Kishore Kumar had started becoming famous and everyone used to sign him for films. Rajesh Khanna was a star in that period and he used to get Kishore Kumar to sing most of his songs. Because of this, other music directors also declined to sign Mohammed Rafi.
But when Anand Bakshi narrated this song to Laxmikant Pyarelal, he decided to get Mohammed Rafi to sing it. He knew that no one else could sing this song except him. He called Mohammed Rafi to his studio and got it recorded directly. When this song came, it was a blast. After this song, Mohammad Rafi started being signed again and he sang songs till the last moment.
Mohammad Rafi was born in a Muslim family on 24 December 1924 in Kotla Sultan Singh village of Amritsar, Punjab. Rafi Sahab started singing at the age of 13 and his first song was in 'Gori Ni, Heeriye Ni' (1941) which was a Punjabi song. In Hindi films, Mohammed Rafi sang for the film Gaon Ki Gori.
Mohammad Rafi also appeared in two songs in 1945. His first hit song was 'Tera Jalwa Jis Ne Dekha' from the film Laila Majnu (1945). After this he sang many hit songs. Mohammed Rafi has also sung many superhit bhajans like 'Ram Ji Ki Nikli Sawaari' and 'Tune Mujhe Bulaya Sherawali'. Mohammad Rafi's 100th birth anniversary will be celebrated on 24 December 2024.
