Many types of colors are used during Christmas. But especially red and every other color is used more. One reason for this is that Christmas is mainly a festival of Christians. According to the beliefs associated with Christianity, red and green colors are considered symbols of the life of Lord Jesus. The red color represents the blood of Jesus and the green color represents the evergreen tree, which also represents eternal life. The green color of evergreen trees remains throughout the winter. Both these colors also represent the leaves and holly berries, which are considered to symbolize the crown of thorns on the head of Lord Jesus on the cross.

One reason why red and green colors are used more in Christmas decorations is that, centuries ago, ancient Celtic people worshiped sacred trees and plants colored red and green to survive the winter. They believed that these plants make the earth beautiful during winter. Therefore people decorated these green and red colored plants at home during the winter solstice for the safety and prosperity of their families.
