It is mandatory to link PAN with Aadhaar by 31 December 2024. Otherwise PAN will become inactive.

New Delhi: The government has made it mandatory to link all Permanent Account Numbers (PAN) with Aadhaar by December 31, 2024. If this is not done by December 31, 2024, your PAN card will become inactive. If the PAN card becomes inactive, you may face difficulties in making financial transactions and taxpayers may face difficulties in filing taxes.

How to link Aadhaar to PAN card?
Before you begin the process of linking Aadhaar to your PAN, make sure you have these three things.

  • A valid PAN card
  • Your Aadhaar number
  • A registered mobile number for OTP verification

Now follow these steps to link your Aadhaar with PAN

  • Visit the e-filing portal- First of all visit the official Income Tax e-filing portal [ https://incometax.gov.in ]. Then click on the Link Aadhaar option available in the Quick Links section on the homepage. Another way is to log in to your account and click on the Link Aadhaar tab in the Profile section.
  • Enter PAN and Aadhaar details- Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number in the specified fields. After entering the numbers, make sure that the information you have provided matches exactly with the information on both your Aadhaar and PAN card.
  • OTP Verification- After entering the required details, you will receive a One-Time Password (OTP) on the mobile number registered with your Aadhaar. Enter that OTP and click on Validate to complete the verification process.
  • Linking Confirmation- Once your Aadhaar and PAN are successfully linked, a confirmation message will appear on the screen. If there are any errors, you may need to resolve them before proceeding.

What to do if you face problems in linking?
If your Aadhaar and PAN are already linked or there is a problem with your Aadhaar data, the system will notify you through a pop-up message. In such cases, you may have to contact the Income Tax Department for assistance or resolve the issue through the UIDAI portal.
