Noida: A 27-year-old man from the Gautam Buddha Nagar district was arrested on Sunday for allegedly stabbing a 23-year-old woman to death after she refused to marry him. The incident occurred on Saturday in Satyam Residency Colony near GT Road.
Virendra, a resident of Vijay Nagar in Ghaziabad, entered the home of Rajesh Kumar and attacked his daughter, Rakhi, with a knife. Rakhi was rushed to a hospital in Ghaziabad in critical condition but succumbed to her injuries later that night.
"The investigation revealed that Rakhi and Virendra's families knew each other and used to live together in Meerut earlier. Virendra's marriage with Rakhi was fixed but the girl's side had a condition that the marriage would take place only after the boy gets a government job," the DCP said.
Frustrated by his failure to do so, Virendra visited Rakhi's house to convince her, but when her mother refused to agree to the marriage, he attacked Rakhi in a fit of rage.
In another incident, an aggregator cab driver was killed at his house in the presence of his wife, allegedly by two persons in the Govandi-Shivaji Nagar area, a Mumbai police official said on Monday. The incident took place late Saturday night, the Shivaji Nagar police station official said. "Accused Abdul Karim Sheikh, alias Dadu, and Sharif Abbas Ali Sheikh alias Pappu stabbed Adil Talim Khan (38) to death after barging into his house. He was killed in the presence of his wife. The murder was the fallout of a fight between the victim and the mother of one of the accused. It started after Khan's car hit one of the accused's motorcycles," the official said. The two accused were held on Sunday and charged with murder and other offences under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
