However, it is not mandatory for children below 4 years of age to wear a helmet. However, there is a group in India, that drives a two-wheeler without wearing a helmet, and that is the Sikh community.

Yes, people of the Sikh community wear turbans, due to which they have been exempted from wearing helmets. If a person from the Sikh community is wearing a turban, then the police cannot issue a challan for not wearing a helmet.

Apart from these people, if a person cannot wear a helmet due to any medical condition, then he can get exemption from the challan by providing proof of it.
