Virat was the vice-captain of the team on his T20I debut. He started his Test career against West Indies in 2011.Virat got dropped from the ODI and Test squads early in his career. He cemented his spot in the ODI team in 2010 while his heroics against Australia in the 2011/12 series saw him become a regular in Tests.Virat, the fastest batsman to score 10000 ODI runs, has scored 13906 runs in the format. He is close to completing the 14000 ODI runs and can breach the milestone in the series against England. Sachin Tendulkar (18426) and Kumar Sangakkara (14234) are the only two batsmen with more than 14000 runs in the format.
