Hyderabad Police on Tuesday questioned Telugu actor Allu Arjun in connection with the stampede in the theater during the premiere show of the film Pushpa-2. A 35-year-old woman died in this stampede and her 8-year-old child remains in critical condition. In this case, Allu Arjun was summoned by the police to join the investigation.
Hyderabad Police asked Allu Arjun if he was aware that the authorities did not allow him to come out of the theater for the premiere show of Pushpa 2. According to NDTV report, the police also asked him the name of the person who decided to go ahead with the plan despite the police's refusal to grant permission. The police also asked him when he got the information about the death of the woman in the stampede.
According to India Today report, the police also asked him if the management of Sandhya theatre had asked him not to come during the show. They also asked him how many bouncers he had arranged for the show.
Police asked Allu Arjun these questions
Did you know that the police had not given permission to come to the premiere?
Who decided to go ahead with the plan despite not getting police permission?
Did any police officer inform you about the stampede outside?
When did you come to know about the woman's death?
The Chikkadpally police have released Allu Arjun after questioning. The police have registered a case against Allu Arjun, his security team and the theatre management under various sections of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) at the Chikkadpally police station.
Allu Arjun is out on bail
On December 13, nine days after the stampede at Hyderabad's Sandhya theatre, the police arrested Allu Arjun. The court had sent him to 14 days of judicial custody. However, a few hours later, Allu Arjun was released on interim bail by the Telangana High Court. The court said, 'Just because he is an actor... he cannot be kept in custody like this.'
On the other hand, the police have claimed that Allu Arjun's sudden arrival at the theater for the special screening of his new film caused a stampede, as a large number of his fans were jostling with each other to get a glimpse of the film star. The woman died in the scuffle that followed. The police have identified the woman as Revathi. The police somehow pulled out her son from the crowd and took him to the hospital. The child's condition is still critical.
