Nagpur :Metro is being expanded in selected cities of India. In this connection, Metro was started in Nagpur, Maharashtra in the year 2022. Nagpur Metro is in the news these days. As of August 2023, more than 1 lakh passengers travel in Nagpur Metro. This has been revealed in the data of MahaMetro. Also, according to this data, it is being learned that 41 percent of the passengers traveling daily have chosen the option of digital payment for their journey.
In the financial year 2023-24, more than 25.5 million passengers had traveled in Nagpur Metro. Based on this data, it has been found that Nagpur Metro has currently earned Rs 41.87 crore. Out of this, more than Rs 17 crore has been transferred in the form of digital account through UPI, Point of Sale and National Common Mobility Card i.e. NCMC.
There has been an increase of 5 percent in the income earned by Nagpur Metro as compared to the last financial year. Along with this, the fare also shows a huge increase of up to 54 percent. 1.65 million passengers traveled on the Navi Mumbai Metro line, compared to 1.65 million passengers on the Nagpur Metro. Out of this, 35 percent transactions have been done in the form of digital or online payment. The income earned from Navi Mumbai Metro was Rs 4.42 crore. This figure is much less than the income of Nagpur Metro.

However, let us inform you that Pune Metro is at the forefront in the matter of digital payment. According to the data, an average of 75 percent digital transactions have taken place in Pune Metro every day. Sometimes this figure even reaches 82 percent. MahaMetro sources have informed that the annual report has included data till March 2024. He has also informed that till now the rate of digital payment can be above 50 percent.
