Tokyo: According to Kyodo News, Japan Airlines (JAL) said Thursday that a cyberattack had attacked its network, causing at least 14 domestic flights to be delayed by up to an hour and several foreign flights to be disrupted.

The airline said that it halted ticket sales for all domestic and international flights for the rest of the day after the problems started at about 7:25 am. Those who had previously bought tickets were informed that their reservations were still good.

JAL said that the assault may have a greater impact on its flights and stated that it was attempting to stop the hack and identify its origin. The airline was successful in temporarily stopping the allegedly infected router. Investigative sources told Kyodo News that JAL called the Metropolitan Police Department, which is investigating the situation.

“We identified and addressed the cause of the issue,” Japan Airlines noted in a post shared on X earlier in the day. We are assessing the state of the system’s recovery. Sales have been halted for flights leaving today, both local and international. We regret any difficulty this may have caused.

“We regret to notify you that our network systems are down,” was written in another post. The reason is being looked into. Both local and international flight operations may be impacted by this. We really regret any trouble this has caused.
