The Boxing Day Test between India and Australia has started in Melbourne. In this match, Pat Cummins fielded 19-year-old young opener Sam Constus. He wreaked havoc with the bat in his debut match itself. Constus attacked the most successful and lethal bowler of this series, Jaspreet Bumrah, fiercely and scored a lot of runs. He hit 18 runs in a single over of Bumrah, which is his most expensive over in his Test career so far. Not only this, he also hit two sixes against Bumrah. He is only the seventh player to hit sixes off Bumrah in Test cricket and only the second player to hit two sixes.
Sam Constus started attacking Jasprit Bumrah from the beginning. He tried to play a ramp shot in the first few overs and showed what mood he was in for this match. Despite Bumrah's failure in the first 3 overs, Constus did not stop. During the 7th over of the innings, he again hit a six on third man against Bumrah through a reverse shot. Constus also hit 2 fours in this over and scored 14 runs. However, his attack did not stop here. When Bumrah came in the 11th over, Constus once again attacked him. This time he scored 18 runs with 2 fours, 1 six and two doubles. This was the most expensive over of Jasprit Bumrah's Test career. Till date he had never given so many runs. That means with this, Constus has become the player who has scored the most runs in an over against Bumrah in Tests. Bumrah bowled 6 overs in his first spell and he gave 38 runs at an economy of 6.30. This is his most expensive spell so far in this series.
Sam Constus made his debut in this match. He is the fourth youngest player to debut for Australia. He played a brilliant innings in the first match itself and scored 50 runs in just 52 balls. Constus played an innings of 60 runs in 65 balls. After this Ravindra Jadeja took his wicket. However, Constus said that he will continue to attack Bumrah in the future as well.
