Rohit Sharma was at his witty best during the Boxing Day Test at the MCG. India didn't have many moments to cherish in the first half of the day as Australian batters made merry, leaving the captain frustrated.Yashasvi Jaiswal was on the receiving end of Rohit after he did not do the basics right while fielding at silly point. Steve Smith played a solid defensive shot off Ravindra Jadeja, however, Jaiswal did not stay low till the end and jumped even before Smith completed the shot, leaving Rohit upset. The captain asked Jaiswal, "gully cricket khel rha hai kya," before commanding him to stay down till the shot was played.

Meanwhile, Sam Konstas scored a fiery fifty on debut while Usman Khawaja and Marnus Labuschagne also made full use of the batting-friendly conditions. Konstas departed for 60 while Usman Khawaja was out for 57. Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith stitched a solid partnership before Labuschagne departed for 72. The wicket of Labuschagne triggered a collapse as Australia slipped from 237-2 to 245-5. The man behind the remarkable comeback was again Japrit Bumrah who got the wickets of Travis Head and Mitchell Marsh. Bumrah also got the wicket of Usman Khawaja while Konstas and Labuschagne were removed by Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar respectively. Steve Smith though was set at the crease and remains a big threat to India. Must Win Game For IndiaThis is a must-win game for India to keep the WTC final hopes alive. A 3-1 win for India would help them qualify for the WTC final, however, if they lose one game and draw the series, their chances of reaching the final will take a dip. In case of a series defeat, India will be knocked out of the tournament. Australia too need to win the series to keep WTC final chances afloat.
