Turkish basketball star Furkan Korkmaz has parted ways with AS Monaco Basket, the club announced Thursday in a statement on Instagram.

“AS Monaco Basket and Furkan Korkmaz have decided to part company by mutual agreement,” the club said.

Korkmaz, who joined the French side in August after a seven-year tenure with the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA, struggled to find his rhythm in Monaco due to injuries. A tear in his right adductor limited the 27-year-old guard to just three appearances in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague this season.

“Hampered by injuries, the Turkish international guard has unfortunately not been able to express his full potential since arriving on the Rock this summer. The entire Roca Team family warmly thanks Furkan Korkmaz for his professionalism, and wishes him nothing but the best for the rest of his career,” the statement read.

Korkmaz signed with Monaco on Aug. 7, 2024, in a move seen as a significant addition to the club’s EuroLeague ambitions. However, injuries derailed his time with the team, cutting short what was expected to be a fresh chapter in his career after years in the NBA.

The departure leaves questions about Korkmaz’s next steps as he continues to recover and seek new opportunities in professional basketball.
