Rahul Gandhi Expresses Grief Over Demise Of Former PM Manmohan Singh At 92

Mumbai: Former Indian Prime Minister and veteran Congress leader Dr. Manmohan Singh passed away at the age of 92 in Delhi's AIIMS on Thursday. Manmohan Singh was admitted to AIIMS today at around 8 PM after he fell unconscious at his home due to age-related related medical conditions. The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP, Rahul Gandhi expressed grief over the demise of the veteran Congress leader.

Rahul Gandhi took to his official social media account and said, "Manmohan Singh Ji led India with immense wisdom and integrity. His humility and deep understanding of economics inspired the nation."

He further said, "My heartfelt condolences to Mrs. Kaur and the family. I have lost a mentor and guide. Millions of us who admired him will remember him with the utmost pride."

AIIMS issued a press release on the death of Dr. Manmohan Singh and said, "With profound grief, we inform the demise of the former Prime Minister of India, Dr Manmohan Singh, aged 92. He was being treated for age-related medical conditions and had a sudden loss of consciousness at home on 26 December 2024. Resuscitative measures were started immediately at home. He was brought to the Medical Emergency at AIIMS, New Delhi at 8:06 PM. Despite all efforts, he could not be revived and was declared dead at 9:51 PM. Kimalade: AIIMS, New Delhi."

As per reports from ANI, a seven-day mourning has been announced in Karnataka after the demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. A government holiday has been declared tomorrow December 27, said Karnataka CMO.

ANI also reported that all Government programs scheduled tomorrow are to be cancelled and National mourning of 7 days to be declared. Cabinet is to meet tomorrow at 11 am. Dr Manmohan Singh’s last rites to be conducted with full state honours, said GoI sources.
