Mahakumbh 2025 Sadhu Sant Akhada: Many cultures have been associated with Sanatan Dharma since ancient times. One of these is 'Maha Kumbh', which is organized every 12 years. This year, Mahakumbh will start on 13 January on the day of Paush Purnima, which will conclude on Mahashivratri on 26 February 2025. According to religious belief and mythology, the nectar pot that came out of the churning of the ocean is considered the symbol of Kumbh. Kumbh means 'pitcher'. Kumbh is organized at the four places where some drops of nectar had fallen. Prayagraj is one of these places. Mahakumbh organized in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh is famous all over the world. That is why it is also called the largest cultural and religious fair in the world. During this time, a large number of people from India and abroad gather and take a dip of faith at Triveni Sangam.

But Kumbh is incomplete without the call of Akharas. Usually when we hear the word Akhara, wrestling or wrestling comes to our mind. But the group of saints and sages who participate in the Kumbh Mela is called Akhara. Do you know who gave the name Akhara to the group of saints and sages and what is their importance in Kumbh.
There are many Akharas of saints and sages across the country for religious supremacy. They are performed with great enthusiasm during Kumbh. There is a grand arrival of the saints and sages of the Akhara. They come to Kumbh with the royal carriage of elephant and horse. In a way, you can also call them monasteries of Hindu religion. Initially there were only four major Akharas. But now there are mainly 13 Akharas. Let us know when the arena was built and who gave it this name.
The history of the Akhara is quite old. The first is called the fleet of Akharas of the Ashram i.e. the group of sadhus. Adi Shankaracharya established Akharas centuries ago. He gathered sages and saints for the protection of religion and named them Akhara. It is said that when the spread of Buddhism started increasing rapidly, Shankaracharya had established Akharas. The monks and nuns of these Akharas, formed to protect the Hindu religion, have knowledge of the scriptures as well as the knowledge of weapons. The purpose of the Akharas in the Kumbh Mela is to propagate Hindu religion and provide religious guidance in the society. Akharas spread religious awareness and also explain the importance of spiritual practice, penance and saintly life. Akhara is considered a symbol of religiosity and spiritual practice of Hindu religion.
It is said that initially only 4 Akharas were built. But due to ideological differences, the Akharas also got divided and at present there are 13 recognized Akharas. Of these, 7 Akharas belong to the Shaiva Sanyasi sect, 3 Akharas belong to the Bairagi Vaishnav sect and there are also 3 Akharas to the Udasin sect. During the Kumbh Mela, incidents of conflict between sages and saints started increasing, to stop which Akhara Parishad was established.
