Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, the chief minister of Himachal Pradesh, has conveyed his profound grief at the passing of former prime minister Manmohan Singh.

He pointed out that India achieved historic strides in a number of areas during Manmohan Singh’s leadership. India gained a new international identity as a result of his policies and initiatives.
Sukhu said that economic liberalization measures put in place under Manmohan Singh increased foreign investment in the nation. During his term, he made a number of important choices that improved the Indian economy and society.
According to the Chief Minister, Singh oversaw the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), which was a landmark move in giving the underprivileged and disenfranchised segments of society jobs.
The Right to Information Act was established under his administration, guaranteeing accountability and openness in governmental procedures. The Chief Minister said that a number of significant legislation passed during his administration cleared the path for the development of the country.
Manmohan Singh will always be remembered for his efforts and accomplishments as a prime minister, politician, and economist, according to the chief minister. The Chief Minister asked God to provide the deceased person everlasting rest in his heavenly home and tranquility.
To honor Manmohan Singh, a Congress Working Committee meeting is scheduled for today at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) headquarters in New Delhi.
According to Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal, the meeting will start at the AICC headquarters at 5:30 p.m. today.
“A Congress Working Committee meeting comprising of the CWC Members, Permanent & Special Invitees is being convened at 5.30pm today in AICC HQ to pay homage to the former Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh ji,” KC Venugopal wrote on X.
At the age of 92, Manmohan Singh died away on Thursday night at AIIMS, Delhi, from age-related illnesses. He was sent to the AIIMS Delhi after experiencing an unexpected loss of consciousness at home.
September 26, 1932, was Manmohan Singh’s birthday. In addition to being an economist, Manmohan Singh was the governor of the Reserve Bank of India from 1982 to 1985. After Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi, he was the longest-standing prime minister of India, lasting from 2004 until 2014.
Singh, who served as India’s finance minister in the administration of PV Narasimha Rao, is credited with bringing about the nation’s economic liberalization in 1991. The reforms enhanced foreign direct investment (FDI) and decreased government control by opening up the Indian economy to global businesses. It made a significant contribution to the economic expansion of the nation.
The National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA), thereafter referred to as MGNREGA, was also established during Manmohan Singh’s administration.

After 33 years of service, he announced his retirement from the Rajya Sabha earlier this year.
