Raipur: The Sunny Leone fraud case related to the Mahtari Vandan Yojana continues to attract attention as the investigation unfolds.
Police have arrested Narendra Sethia, a cyber café operator, for submitting an online application for the Mahtari Vandan scheme using the name of Sunny Leone's husband, Johnny Sins. The application was filed from a cyber café in the Bastar Nagar Panchayat area.
The ID used for the application was linked to an Anganwadi worker from Talur village, and the account in which Mahatari Vandan Scheme money got credited belonged to a young man named Virendra Kumar Joshi.
Following his arrest, Sethia has been placed in judicial remand, as confirmed by ASP Maheshwar Nag.
In response, Rukmani Sajjan, state president of the Anganwadi Workers Union, claimed that the Anganwadi worker involved has been wrongfully implicated and terminated.
She warned of state-wide protests if the worker is not reinstated, expressing anger among Anganwadi workers over what they see as irresponsible government action.
Additionally, some Anganwadi workers, speaking anonymously, reported that during the initial phase of the scheme, there was significant pressure from the government and officials to meet targets. They noted that anyone could access the generated ID without needing an OTP or password.
Under pressure, some workers sought help from outsiders, leading to early form submissions. Now, however, the ID can only be accessed after entering an OTP sent to the registered mobile number.
