Hemophilia: Hemophilia is a rare disease, but the number of its patients is increasing rapidly in India. According to experts, early diagnosis and management of hemophilia can improve the lives of patients. More than 25,000 people are suffering from this disease in India. This condition occurs due to blood not clotting properly, due to which even minor injuries can turn into serious bleeding.

The Noida-based Post Graduate Institute of Child Health (PGICH) has registered more than 950 hemophilia patients and has been providing comprehensive care to them since 2018. A CME (Continuing Medical Education) was recently organized at the institute to raise awareness on this disease and discuss management methods.

Timely checkup and proper care

In this program, Dr. Neeta Radhakrishnan told that with timely diagnosis and proper care, people suffering from hemophilia can live a normal life. He said, "This disease is rare, but with proper management, patients can get good education and employment opportunities." Director of the institute Prof. A.K. 79 medical experts, including doctors, nurses and consultants, participated in the meeting chaired by Singh. The overall management of hemophilia from birth to adulthood was discussed in the meeting.

Advanced Treatments in Hemophilia Management

Chief guest of the program and former director of Maulana Azad Medical College, Prof. Naresh Gupta highlighted the emerging treatments for haemophilia and the progress made in recent decades. He said that with advanced technologies and medicines, the life of patients has now become much easier. On this occasion, senior nursing officer Dinesh Pal delivered a lecture on nursing care, while Dr. Deepika Lohan from Amity University, Gurgaon discussed psychosocial care in hemophilia management.

Symptoms and prevention of hemophilia

Dr. Neeta told that if symptoms of bleeding are seen in any family, then immediate investigation should be done. Its symptoms include prolonged bleeding from injuries, swelling of joints, bleeding gums and excessive bleeding during menstruation.

Precautions necessary

1. Avoid activities that may cause injury.

2. Do not take medicines like aspirin.

3. Avoid intramuscular injection.

4. Be alert and take special care of children to avoid trauma.

5. In case of any injury, go to the hospital immediately.
