Manmohan Singh Funeral Update News In Hindi: Preparations for the last journey of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh have started. Today his funeral will be held at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi. Manmohan's mortal remains have been brought from the PM's residence to the Congress headquarters. Here leaders and workers will pay tribute to him.
Let us tell you that differences have arisen between the Congress and the Central Government regarding the location of the funeral and memorial of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. The Congress had demanded that Dr Singh's last rites should be performed near Raj Ghat, where his memorial could be built later, but the Union Home Ministry has identified Nigambodh Ghat for cremation and a memorial will be constructed soon. Assurance has been given to allot the land.
The Home Ministry issued a statement on Friday night saying that the government will allocate space for a memorial to Dr Manmohan Singh and his family and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has been informed in this regard.
The ministry clarified that the cremation and other formalities will be completed first, while the space for the memorial will be allotted after the formation of the trust. On this, Congress President Kharge has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting that the last rites of Dr. Manmohan Singh be performed at a place where his legacy can be respected.
However, the Home Ministry said late in the night that it may take a few days to decide the exact location of the memorial.
Dr. Manmohan Singh died on Thursday night. He was 92 years old. He was ill since a long time. After fainting at home, he was brought to Delhi AIIMS at 8:06 pm. According to the hospital bulletin, he breathed his last at 9:51 pm.
