A big update has come out for more than 3 crore daily train passengers of the country. Indian Railways will release a new time table from January 1, 2025. The current time table, the 44th edition of 'Train at a Glance', will remain effective till December 31, 2024. Last year, Indian Railways had released All India Railway Time Table – Trains at a Glance (TAG), which became effective on October 1. TAG is also available on the official website of Indian Railways.
In 2025, the Railway Ministry plans to launch all 136 Vande Bharat Express trains, 2 Amrit Bharat Express trains and Namo Bharat Rapid Rail (Vande Metro). Last year, the national transporter introduced 64 Vande Bharat trains and 70 additional services to enhance passenger convenience. Generally, the Ministry of Railways releases 'Trains at a Glance' (TAG) working schedules before 30 June every year. The new time table is effective from July 1. However, this year, the norms were revised.
Meanwhile, in preparation for the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is ensuring world-class facilities for the lakhs of devotees attending the event. According to an official release, arrangements are being made to operate around 3,000 special fair trains as well as provide shelter for more than 1 lakh passengers.
Additionally, IRCTC, the tourism and hospitality arm of the Indian Railways, has completed the construction of Mahakumbh Gram, a luxury tent city near Triveni Sangam. Online booking for stay at Mahakumbh Gram is now open from 10 January to 28 February. Reservations can be easily made through the IRCTC website, additional information is available on both the IRCTC and Department of Tourism websites and the Mahakumbh App.
