Rains bring temperature down

The unusually heavy rain in December has also sent the temperature plummeting in Delhi, with the national capital recording a minimum of 12 degrees Celsius and a maximum of 19 degrees Celsius on Friday.

Air quality improves after rains

The rain has also resulted in Delhi's air quality improving to moderate in many parts of the national capital. Delhi's air pollution levels showed a declining trend, and the 24-hour average air quality index (AQI) stood at 324 at 7 pm on Friday.

As the air quality improved, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Friday revoked stage 3 curbs under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).

According to forecasts from the India Meteorological Department and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology, the air quality situation is predicted to improve further owing to favourable meteorological conditions.
