The pickleball fraternity in England has received a big boost as pickleball has been recognised as a sport in the country. Sport England has recognised pickleball as a sport. Pickleball England has been recognised as pickleball's national governing body in the country. Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the US and its popularity is on the rise in England too."The four home nation sports councils – Sport England, sportscotland, Sport Northern Ireland and Sport Wales – have unanimously recognised pickleball as a sport. Sport England has now recognised Pickleball England (PBE) as the national governing body for pickleball in England," Sport England said in a statement."During a rigorous process, PBE demonstrated they met the strict criteria required to run and represent the sport, showing good governance as well as having established delivery mechanisms in place and plans to increase participation. Pickleball is rapidly growing in popularity, and we look forward to PBE continuing to provide inclusive and accessible opportunities for people to play the sport and enjoy the physical and mental benefits of taking part."England Open, which took place from October 31 to November 2, was a huge hit and more than 2000 players took part in the event. At the European Pickleball Championship in Southampton, England shared the top honours with Spain.England won 2 gold and 4 silver medals at the event. The hosts won a medal in every category. Spain won 2 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.Sky.com recently reported that there are more than 35,000 picklers in the UK. "Anyone who picks up a paddle and has a play knows the joy, that inner child just comes out playing this game.
