World’s largest coach factory is in….where over….coaches are manufactured each year

Indian Railways is called the ‘Lifeline of India’. Each day crores of passengers reach their respective destinations by travelling through it. The Indian rail network has been listed as the fourth largest network in the world.
By 2022 over 67000 kilometers of railway network had been established. Do you know where the coaches you travel in are built in India?
Over 23000 trains daily operated by the Indian Railways which pass through 7000 stations each day. Among these trains over 13000 are passenger trains and around 9200 trains are goods trains.
In India the majority of train coaches are manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai. Established in 1955 in Perambur Chennai it is the worlds leading coach manufacturer. This factory is one of the five oldest units in the country.
At present The ICF manufactures LHB coaches semi-high speed Vande Bharat train set and electrical multiple units. Earlier only ICF coaches were manufactured here.
Over 4000 coaches are manufactured at ICF. By June 2024 more than 75000 coaches will have been manufactured including the Vande Bharat coaches. The production of Vande Bharat coaches takes more time.
