In the 1980s veteran actor Jeetendra was recognised as one of the leading stars of the film industry. Although he has now stepped away from films in his later years he was an undisputed icon during his prime. Moreover he holds a unique record that remains unbroken to this day. From 1960s to 1990s Jeetendra captivated audiences with his remarkable acting skills. He not only ruled the industry with his performances but also became a trendsetter with his unique style and dancing skills. He is the only actor in the industry who has worked in 80 remake films throughout his career. The OG king of remakes in 80s Jeetendra portrayed a wide range of characters throughout his illustrious acting career earning widespread admiration from audiences. However his record for starring in remake films remain unmatched. Among these he has appeared in 75 remakes of South Indian films and 5 remakes of Hollywood movies. Over the course of his career Jeetendra featured in more than 200 films the majority of which turned out to be box office hits. How Ravi Kapoor became Jeetendra? In the late 1950s a young boy named Ravi Kapoor began working at his fathers jewellery shop in Mumbai where one of his tasks was supplying imitation jewellery to film productions. In 1959 the 17-year-old visited the sets of V Shantarams Navrang. It was there that the director noticed him and gave him a break. It was an opportunity to play a body double for the films heroine Sandhya in certain scenes and dance sequences. It was until five years later that Ravi Kapoor made his acting debut. V Shantaram gave him his first break in Geet Gaya Patharon Ne in 1964. Meanwhile Jeetendras last film in which he played the lead role was the 2005 romantic drama Ho Jaata Hai Pyaar. In 2020 he ventured into the OTT space with his debut in the web series Baarish. Jeetendras daughter Ekta Kapoor is a renowned producer of television series and films while his son Tusshar Kapoor had also established himself as an actor.
