Amitabh Bachchan is indeed a megastar that Bollywood has given us. For over five decades he has delivered unforgettable performances that have left a lasting impact. In fact calling him a legend is an understatement. But what if we tell you that Big Bs interest in acting may have never come if this actor never introduced him to the world of theatre. Yes we are talking about none other than Goga Kapoor. The actor who left a lasting impression on audience with his on-screen characters especially his performance in Mahabharat. Born Ravinder Kapoor Goga joined the theatre stage when he was still in his teens. In 1959 his journey began and he played a lead role in Othello. It was then when he shared stage with Big B. The actor has always said that it was Goga who introduced him into the field of theatre. In 1973 when Big B was shooting for Zanjeer he recommended Goga for a part and he ended up getting it. Over the years he became a frequent choice for roles in any Big Bs films often portraying the villain. The duo appeared in several hit movies including Toofan Khoon Pasina Muqaddar Ka Sikandar Dostana Agneepath and Lawaaris. Among the very popular characters he played Goga became a name after his portrayal of Kansa in B.R. Chopras Mahabharat. His character grabbed massive attention and people starting calling him Kansa in real life. In an interview Goga reveled wherever he used to go out in public people had just one question Why he had treated his sister Devaki so badly?. His character was so convincing that people mistook him Kansa in real life because of which he underwent a lot of teasing and criticism. By late 80s Goga became tired of performing villain roles. So he switched to doing more positive characters and did some supporting parts in films like Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa. Following that his number of movies went down. His last film was Darwaza Bandh Rakho (2006). In 2008 Goga Kapoor was diagnosed with Parkinson disease and passed away in 2011 at 70. The actor has worked in over 200 films and is still remembered for his brilliant contribution to Hindi cinema.
