Shontaan (Bengali) Box Office Collection Day 9: Almost 5 years after the blockbuster Bengali film 'Parineeta', director Raj Chakrabarty, Subhashree Ganguly and Ritwick Chakraborty reunited for the emotional family-drama 'Shontaan'.

Amid decent buzz, the movie hit cinemas on 20th December and opened to positive response from fans and critics alike, striking the right emotional chords with the audience. Directed by Raj Chakrabarty, the heart-wrenching emotional-drama revolves around the story of an elderly couple who gets rejected by their own son. Starring Mithun Chakraborty, Anashua Majumdar, Ritwick Chakraborty, Subhashree Ganguly, Kharaj Mukherjee and Sohini Sengupta among others, Shontaan has had a decent opening of Rs 11 lakhs in Bengal, as per Sacnilk. Amid the positive response, the Bengali-language emotional drama scored Rs 1.43 cr in its 1st week.

According to the latest Sacnilk updates, Subhashree-Mithun's movie saw a slight growth on day 9 (second Saturday) and earned Rs 20 lakhs, taking the total nett collection to Rs 1.76 cr in 9 days.

For those unversed, Subhashree-starrer 'Shontaan' clashed with Dev's Khadaan and TOta Roy Chowdhury's film 'Chaalchitro' at the box office. Both Shontaan and Chaalchitro are getting doninated by the Dev starrer. According to reports, Shontaan is made on a small budget of Rs 2 cr. The nett collection is yet to meet the budget expectation, while the gross collection has recovered the numbers.
