Malayalam Cinema Loss: The year 2024 was disappointing for the Malayalam film industry. According to the report of Kerala Film Producers Association, a total of 199 Malayalam films were released this year, but only 26 of them were successful. Against the total production cost of Rs 1000 crore, the industry earned only Rs 300 crore, resulting in a huge loss of Rs 700 crore.

Production cost and salary become a problem

Let us tell you that Kerala Film Producers Association revealed that the main reasons for this loss are increased production costs and high salaries of actors. Makers believe that only controlling the cost of films can save the industry from this crisis.

Successful films made records

Let us tell you that some films like Manjumel Boys, Avesham, Premalu, Aadujeevitham and ARM entered the Rs 100 crore club. Among these, Manjumel Boys achieved great success by earning Rs 242 crores. At the same time, films like Kishkinda Kaandam, Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil, and Varshangalkku Sesham made it to the Rs 50 crore club.

The magic of re-released films

Let us tell you that this year many old films like Manichitrathazhu and Valiyettan were re-released, which were highly appreciated by the audience. Although Mohanlal's directorial debut film Barroz was a flop, his earlier films Devadoothan and Manichitrathazhu were hits during re-release.

Increased importance of content based films

Apart from this, let us tell you that Kerala Film Producers Association says that the audience is now giving priority to content based films instead of star cast. The success of small budget films proved that it is important to control production costs.
