Hardly anyone would have thought that the days of captain Rohit Sharma, who made Team India win the T20 World Cup this year, would end so soon. Today there are talks of dropping Rohit, who made T20 World Champion, from the team. His performance in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy has been very poor and he has failed miserably in three test matches. The situation has come to such a level that it is now being said that he should take retirement as soon as possible. Former cricketer Irfan Pathan even said that if Rohit Sharma was not the captain then he would not get a place in the playing eleven.

What did Pathan say about Rohit?

Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan believes that if Rohit had not been the captain of India, based on his current form he would not have got a place in the playing eleven. Pathan said, 'A player who has scored almost 20 thousand runs, the way he is struggling, it seems that his form is not supporting him at all. What is happening now is that he is the captain, so he is playing. If he had not been the captain, he would not have been playing right now. Pathan further said, 'Had Rohit not been there, KL Rahul would have been the opener, Jaiswal would have been there and Shubman Gill would have been there. If we talk in the true sense then Rohit is struggling with the bat. Looking at him it seems that he is unable to make a place in the playing eleven.

Rohit Sharma is in bad condition

Rohit Sharma has been in poor form not only in this series but for a long time. This player could score only 42 runs in four innings during the home Test series against Bangladesh. Rohit could add only 91 runs in three matches against New Zealand. Irfan Pathan said on this issue, 'Rohit's form is very bad. He was not scoring runs even before coming to Australia. When I see Rohit batting, it is very disappointing.

Not only Pathan, Ravi Shastri also in a few gestures told Rohit to decide on his future. Shastri said, 'As far as Rohit is concerned, he will have to take a decision. In the top order I think his footwork is not the same as before. He probably delays playing shots many times, so a decision will have to be taken at the end of the series.
