Dr. Kuldeep Kumar Grover of CK Birla Hospital, Gurugram, says that smoking is not only dangerous for pregnant women, but it can also affect the health of their child.

Dangers of Smoking During Pregnancy

Doctors say that when a woman is pregnant and smokes, it has an adverse effect not only on her body but also on the child growing in her womb. Doctors say that smoking increases the risk of infection to the child, can damage his delicate organs and sometimes his organs are not formed properly.

Lung problems

Dr. Grover explains that smoking by pregnant women can also affect the lungs of the child. Due to this, the child's lungs do not develop properly, which can later cause respiratory problems. Also, blood circulation in the pregnant woman's body can also be affected, which can cause a lack of oxygen to the baby.

To  avoid this, doctors recommend that if a woman smokes before becoming pregnant, she should quit it immediately. Apart from this, during pregnancy, the woman should pay attention to her diet, so that the health of both her and the child is better. A healthy diet not only helps in the proper development of the baby, but it also helps in the recovery of the mother's body.
