Emmerdale bosses have teased that the upcoming New Year's Eve episode, set to air on Tuesday, December 31, will feature five sensational flashforward scenes, offering a glimpse into the dramatic future awaiting the villagers in 2025.
With some residents facing ominous prospects, viewers are left wondering what these enigmatic scenes could signify for their favourite characters in the year ahead.
Emmerdale Producer Laura Shaw revealed: "The flashforwards will tease several storylines that will reveal a sneak peak of what's to come across 2025."
"As our villagers toast the New Year, a glimpse into each of their futures will be revealed. As the fate of those depicted hangs in the balance, the only thing for certain is it's going to be an explosive year in Emmerdale."
Meanwhile, Ruby Fox-Milligan, portrayed by Beth Cordingly, is seen grappling with her past as she attempts to forge a new life with her daughter Steph Miligan, played by Georgia Jay. The presence of her abusive father, Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day), in the village complicates matters further, especially since he's aware of Ruby's tryst with Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley).
In a heart-to-heart with Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), Ruby admits that Caleb Milligan (William Ash) might not be Steph's biological father, and decides to take charge of her life. However, her secrets threaten to unravel, setting off a chain reaction that could destroy everything she's worked to build, reports .
Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) and April Windsor's (Amelia Flannigan) loved ones are heartbroken as they start the New Year without knowing her whereabouts. Marlon is wracked with guilt, and when a secret comes to light, he and Rhona find it hard to unite and provide each other with the support they desperately need.
In another storyline, Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley) mourns the loss of her father, Will Taylor. Initially, she is wary of Joe Tate's (Ned Porteous) unexpected return, but soon uncovers something that shifts her suspicions towards her step-mother Kim Tate (Claire King).
Is grief clouding poor Dawn's judgement or has she stumbled upon a truth? Before long, Dawn takes control of the situation, making choices that could potentially destroy her life.
The winter evenings are lengthy, dark and chilly, but what should have been an enjoyable night out culminates in a catastrophic event that will forever change the village's life.
