In an interview Patekar credited his father for fostering his love for acting by introducing him to plays. The actor began his journey in films with a negative role in Gaman. But he first grabbed limelight with the 1986 sleeper hit Ankush which made a mark for him in the industry. Following that Nana appeared in range of films both critically acclaimed and commercially successful such as Parinda Tirangaaa Krantiveer Agni Sakshi Khamoshi and Bhoot. Later the actor won a National Award for Best supporting actor for his performance in Agni Sakshi. Over the years Nana Patekar has built a name for himself in the realm of entertainment.
