He undertook a job of painting movie posters in Chunabhatti walking 8 kilometers every day for a monthly payment of Rs 35. On the personal front Nana Patekar married Neelkanti at the age of 27 but tragedy soon followed. His father passed away from a heart attack when Nana was 28 and he also endured heartbreaking loss of his first son. In an interview Patekar credited his father for fostering his love for acting by introducing him to plays.
The actor began his journey in films with a negative role in Gaman. But he first grabbed limelight with the 1986 sleeper hit Ankush which made a mark for him in the industry. Following that Nana appeared in range of films both critically acclaimed and commercially successful such as Parinda Tirangaaa Krantiveer Agni Sakshi Khamoshi and Bhoot. Later the actor won a National Award for Best supporting actor for his performance in Agni Sakshi.
Over the years Nana Patekar has built a name for himself in the realm of entertainment. The actor who grew up in a financially difficult surroundings has now built Rs 80 crore net worth. Nana charges Rs 2-3 crore per film and rest secure his earnings through other deals and partnerships.
